Halogen flame retardants are the most widely produced flame retardants in the world, mainly bromine flame retardants.There are few chlorine-based flame retardants produced in industry, mainly chlorinated paraffins, clonogen, hytanic acid and its anhydride. The commonly used chlorine-containing flame retardants in rigid polyurethane foam are tri (2-chloro-isopropyl) phosphate (TCPP) and trichloroethyl phosphate (TCEP).

Although halogenated flame retardants have good flame retardancy effect and large market demand, they generate a large amount of smoke, corrosive gas and toxic gas harmful to human body and environment when burned.With the increasing awareness of environmental protection around the world, various laws and regulations have been introduced to gradually restrict and prohibit the use of halogen-free flame retardants. Therefore, from the perspective of long-term development, halogen-free flame retardants are the future development direction of flame retardants.
