Flame retardants are industrial additives that prevent and slow the combustion of polymers.Among the various flame retardants, halogen flame retardants are widely used because of their good flame retardancy effect and no effect on the physicochemical properties of materials.However, when adding halogen flame retardants, the polymer produces a large amount of smoke and is easy to give off corrosive gas (such as HCl, HBr, etc.) and harmful gas, which is easy to cause secondary harm.Therefore, flame retardants in today's world are developing towards halogen-free.Aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide flame retardants in the application depends on chemical decomposition heat absorption and release water to play a flame retardant effect, with no corrosion processing machinery, decomposition of aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide chemical properties are stable, so no secondary harm.As the fire accident occur frequently, and the resulting significant personnel and property losses, our country has stipulated in subways and other important building wire and cable is used in halogen-free flame retardant wire and cable, and with the constant improvement of the people and their own environmental protection consciousness, polymer material of halogen free flame retardant is known as development direction in the future.In recent years, aluminum hydroxide (ATH) flame retardants are widely used in inorganic flame retardants, while magnesium hydroxide flame retardants are rapidly developed.Compared with aluminum hydroxide, the decomposition temperature of magnesium hydroxide is higher (aluminum hydroxide is about 220℃, magnesium hydroxide is about 350~400℃), which is more suitable for the processing requirements of some polymers, and also has the effect of promoting the carbonization of polymers.Therefore, in recent years, the application of magnesium hydroxide flame retardant is expanding.
